It always seems like a slow start for the beginning of each new year. Our trip to Oahu was really relaxing, and I finally decided to take all my camera gear with me this time.

Randy > This was taken on the 3rd of March. My buddy across the street called me to see if I wanted to go down the hill, as the sun was sinking fast. We set-up quickly and watched as the clouds turned to a dusty pink. In a matter of minutes the clouds were a steel gray.

Makaha Beach in Oahu
Randy > Makaha, or “fierce,” is the name of one of the largest valleys on the O’ahu’s leeward coast.
Randy > This was taken a couple miles from my home in Port Orchard.

Rich Passage is a tidal strait in Puget Sound, allowing access to Bremerton, Washington, Port Orchard Bay and Dyes Inlet,

Rich Passage was named by Charles Wilkes during the Wilkes Expedition of 1838-1842.
Randy > (Nymphaea Capensis)

It is found growing abundantly in freshwater habitats in South Africa and neighbouring countries.

I found this water lily floating in a pond in the lush green Waimea Valley on O'ahu's famous North Shore.
Randy > (Winter Pond)

After my friend had shown me this pond on a cold January morning, I thought of Henry David Thoreau.

Thoreau describes Walden Pond in his writings.
Randy > (Winter Solitude)

The Dungeness River, after a few weeks of heavy rain on the Olympic Peninsula.
Randy > (Makaha Beach)

Another nice day on the Island of Oahu.
Randy > I was trying to take a sunrise shot of Point no Point Lighthouse. The sunrise the previous two days were spectacular. However on the third morning I had no such luck. As I was walking back to the truck I noticed the sunburst behind the trees, and quickly set up my tripod and camera.
